It had been at least 2 months since I'd been able to metal detect. So with a free Saturday, I arranged for Jan to drive me to meet with James for breakfast at Waffle House so he could give me a ride to our hunt site.

James and I drove to Bessemer where we met Gary to hunt Alex Bradford Park. Though none of us had hunted this park before we had high hopes because it was so near DeBardelaben Park where we had found old coins. In fact, it turned out not to be much of a park and we didn't find any older coins or anything of much interest.
So after a couple of hours we drove to Ramsey High School in the Birmingham Southside. We began hunting and Gary very quickly found a couple of wheat pennies, building our hope that we would have a good day.. Lawrence showed up after about 15 minutes and he immediately found another wheatie.

We took a lunch break and came back and hunted until it got dark. At the end of the day, Lawrence and James had both found a Mercury dime and I had found a Roosevelt. I also came up with a firemans badge from the Birmingham Fire Department, and a couple of Birmingham Transit Company bus tokens good ffor one free school fare.
Anyway, the day turned out great. Good friends, good weather, good time hunting.
James hasn't sent me his picture yet, but here's our finds.

Good hunting to you all!
